Five Hours vs. Thirty Seconds

Think about the last time you were in a pickle — really stuck on something. What did you do?

Hold that thought for a second, because I’ve got a story for you.

I was working on a video — five hours in — and the very last part had a problem: the audio and video were out of sync. (Don’t ask me why I spent 4 to 5 hours for a 1.5 minutes video. That’s a different story.) I tried everything I knew. Same troubleshooting, over and over, getting nowhere. Frustrated, tired, stuck.

Then I asked myself, “Why don’t you go to AI?”

So I asked. Thirty seconds later — solved.

Four hours of nothing to show for it, versus thirty seconds of the actual fix.

Here’s what I’m sitting with: AI isn’t the solution to everything. But it can absolutely be a solution. And when I’m in a pickle — spinning my wheels, trying the same thing and expecting a different result — the smartest move isn’t to

white-knuckle it alone for hours. It’s to ask sooner.

But this isn’t really about video editing. It’s about you.

Have you ever had a problem — and spent way too long trying to find the answer? Really think about it. What did you try? Did you keep circling the same thing over and over, hoping it would click?      Did you ask someone and resources for help?

I want to sit with that for a second. No judgment either way — just notice it.

So tell me: when you’re in a pickle, trying to find an answer, what do you do?

Much joy,
